On the exiting wake of Web 2.0, new web design trends are in constant demand. Many top rated sites, however, blend styles that encompass more than just one trend or web design détail. Guiding rules such as Simplicity, Compliment and Content make not only for a good web design but also for a great website. My view on web trends is simple: while it is ideal to create the next web style instead of the current, an attractive site needs to acknowledge the current trends and reflect a unique view on these trends. I have seen beautiful sites that contain the already trite elements of Web 2.0 (gradients, reflections, and stripes), yet the websites that get the most buzz are the unique and ingeniously fresh designs. This is my reflection on trends and the styles of web design today.
